Who is affected?
Everyone who is licensed to drive vehicles over 3. 5T Category B (Pre 1997 - 3.5T to 7.5T) Category C1 (Post 1997 - 3.5T to 7.5T) Category C Category C E
Exemptions
Vehicles with maximum speed < 45 kph Armed forces, fire and defence, Road testing vehicles, Emergency Services, Vehicles used for driving lessons ,Incidental drivers.

Periodic Training Licence holders must complete 35 hours of approved training before 10th September 2014 .Training can be spread over 5 years, or taken in one week .New drivers must also have 35 hours of training within 5 years of passing LGV test .At present there is only the need to attend training and there are no test or exams .
Training Records
Driving Standards will hold the database and it will be internet based. Approved centre must upload training information within 5 days. Training centres will issue licence holder with record of training already undertaken .Drivers will have access to the database and will be able to assist employers to confirm their status. DVLA will issue DQC at the end of 5 year cycle of confirmed approved training.
